Dwight Myers, a man with a message that shaped the beginning of Hip Hop culture. On, Thursday, November 17, 2011, Mr. Myers, affectionately known as " Heavy D" dead of massive myocardial infraction. He became of age as rapper, singer, and actor.
I remember growing up listening to the joy of his lyrics. It would put a melody in your step and jingo in your heart. You felt good about being a brother or sister of the same complexion (proud to black). I never met him on personal level, but his life touched millions. His music gave people hope and encouragement.
According to some conflicting reports, stated that he was trying to get into shape for new movie roles. He just had gained back the 135 pounds previously lost. At the time of his death he weighed 344lbs. However, his longtime Manager/Business Partner and brother, Floyd Myers, reported that Heavy D was in great shape.
For a moment of reflection, America his life and health is a lesson to us all who struggle daily with obesity. It is not a joke. We must take getting-into-shape and maintaining a healthy weight-- seriously. We can do it America.
Finally, I never heard a word of negativity, selfishness, and hatred pass his lips. I wonder what he would have contributed to world in another 44 yrs.
"He loved family, and that's who he was, but it wasn't too much different from how he treated his friends and his fans," he said. "He showed everybody love and affection and we're going to miss that." –Floyd Myers
Heavy you will never be a moment in passing or fly-by-night act, but a class act as a human being, friend, father, brother, entertainer, and most of all a brother –in- the faith.
